Sonic 1 in Space for the 32x

By Jdpense

Description:

Sonic 1 in Space for the 32x is a ROM hack of Sonic 1 ported to the Sega 32x made by Jdpense, which is just a sample demo of a hack that is meant to showcase the abilities of the Sega 32x with rendering bitmaps and playing "HQ music" with its PWM chip. It allows you switch between backgrounds and switch between several tracks.

Background:

This is probably my very first time working with the Sega 32x, which was a pretty interesting exprience so far with a few hiccups. I'm still a novice with SH-2 syntax, but I'm still learning the ropes of the cpu code itself and the hardware. Not a whole lot of the base game has been changed aside from the features from the 32x side, and the pause menu.

Instuctions:

To change the background simply pause the game and press B. To change the PWM music, pause the game and press A. These features will allow you to switch between 3 different backgrounds and 3 different tracks.

I would also like to note that this hack is confirmed to work on a real Sega 32x.

For whatever reason this looks to me more like Sonic 1: LaserDisc Edition :D
